By Arjan Rai Singh

It was an honor for Arjan Singh Rai and Komal Singh to be invited to attend and speak at the launch of the career mentoring programme with City Sikhs in the UK House of Lords this past week.

Here we asked about the mentoring opportunities available for us, and it was an opportunity to promote our interfaith work and the work that we aim to do in the coming weeks. We aimed to promote the focus of our work, whether it be through various articles, blogs, dialogue, videography, or holding events around the partition and various other issues concerning the South Asian community. With our first article around partition voices coming out over the next few days, get in touch if you have a partition story or lens of focus you’d like to share and write about.

As people just starting out in our careers, it’s important that we find mentors for ourselves to help develop our career on the right path. As young Sikhs in a prestigious environment and among Sikhs who have excelled in their careers, it was important that we utilised the opportunity to talk about our aims and aspirations. That’s why this is a perfect mentoring opportunity for us to utilise and develop from.

Thank you to Param S. MBE and Hartej Singh for organising the event, the different speakers, and for the networking at the end where we received brilliant advice. Thank you to everyone involved!
